Ann Siang Hill (Chinese: 安祥山) is a small hillock located in Chinatown, off South Bridge Road.
It was the site of the house and estate of Chia Ann Siang (谢安祥; 1832–1892), a wealthy Malacca-born Hokkien Chinese sawmiller. It was once filled with remittance houses for the largely illiterate immigrant population to send money home.
Nowadays, only some decades-old exclusive social clubs and clan associations remain as testaments to the vestiges of the past. Otherwise, it is a hotspot for many epicurean delights, fashion boutiques, chic street garbs, designer offices, art galleries, antique furniture shops and many other wonderful surprises.
