I was walking down the road when I saw, out of the corner of my eyes, something jumped out of the bushes and caught a prey in mid air. Both insects dropped onto the tarmac with a very slight thud.

On closer look, I saw it was a robberfly with its prey, a flesh fly. Both were lying on their sides, motionless for a few seconds. Before I could take a shot, the robberfly flew off with its prey and settled on a nearby tree trunk, then later on a leaf.

I realized that I had just witnessed a highway robber (of the insect world) at its vicious best!
